North London Collegiate School (NLCS-Kobe) is the newest addition to the globally respected NLCS family, opening its Junior School campus on Rokko Island in Kobe in August 2025. It is a private, co-educational day school dedicated to providing an academically ambitious, British-style education, with plans to expand to a full K-12 program by 2028 and open a Senior School campus with boarding options on Rokko Mountain. The school is established with a clear goal of preparing students for the world’s top universities, leveraging the NLCS network’s strong academic track record, particularly with the IB curriculum (for which it is currently seeking accreditation). Instruction for students in Grades 1 to 6 features a rich, inquiry-based curriculum that integrates Japanese language and culture, aiming to foster both subject passion and deep scholarship, notably through weekly 'Nicholson Lectures'. The campus provides a stimulating learning environment with exceptional facilities, including dedicated indoor spaces for science, ICT, art, music, and drama, supported by teaching assistants. Athletic facilities comprise an Indoor Sports Hall and an outdoor sports field located nearby. The faculty consists of highly qualified, passionate, international teachers who undergo training at NLCS (UK) to ensure adherence to the school's high ethos, all while maintaining small average class sizes of 19 students to ensure maximum individual support.
