Marist Brothers International School (MBIS), established in 1951, is a co-educational day school located in the quiet, scenic residential area of Suma, Kobe, nestled between the mountains and the sea. Rooted in the Catholic Marist Brothers global network, the school maintains a strong sense of community, care, and character development while welcoming students of all faiths. MBIS is highly accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is a full IB Continuum World School , offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the globally recognized Diploma Programme (DP) for Grades 11 and 12, alongside the use of Common Core State Standards. Serving approximately 520 students from Early Years through Grade 12, the school maintains highly diverse student body representing over 35 nationalities, benefiting from a low student-to-teacher ratio of 9:1. All instruction is in English, with mandatory Japanese study. The teaching staff is highly experienced, with a majority holding advanced degrees. The school is currently undergoing an ambitious Campus Redevelopment Project to enhance its facilities, which currently include a Gymnasium and an outdoor field supporting its proud athletic tradition as a member of the Western Japan Athletics Association (WJAA). MBIS offers dedicated Student Support Services and ESL/ELL programs to cater to diverse learning profiles. Extracurricular Activities

Extensive co-curricular program focusing on Sports, Arts (Visual & Performing), Model United Nations (MUN), Student Government, and Service Learning (Director of Service Learning on staff). After School Activities Program​ include Early Years and Kinder Clubs ranging from rugby,succer,brick builders, Lower & Upper School Clubs ranging from chess, cooking,brick builders,printmaking, rugby,game and soccer, etc. MBIS has a very proud athletic tradition. As members of the Western Japan Athletics Association (WJAA), MBIS competes in regional leagues and tournaments against other international and US base schools, as well as occasionally coming up against teams from as far away as Tokyo and Hokkaido. MBIS also hosts an annual Invitational Futsal Tournament for students in grades 3-6, competing against other international schools in the region. After School Music Clubs include Beginner Band, Rock Band, Jazz Band with opportunities to perform as a band in the school’s Spring Arts Festival in April, Food Fair, Winter Band Concert, etc.
