Marist Brothers International School (MBIS)

Marist Brothers International School (MBIS), established in 1951, is a co-educational day school located in the quiet, scenic residential area of Suma, Kobe, nestled between the mountains and the sea. Rooted in the Catholic Marist Brothers global network, the school maintains a strong sense of community, care, and character development while welcoming students of all faiths. MBIS is highly accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is a full IB Continuum World School , offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the globally recognized Diploma Programme (DP) for Grades 11 and 12, alongside the use of Common Core State Standards. Serving approximately 520 students from Early Years through Grade 12, the school maintains highly diverse student body representing over 35 nationalities, benefiting from a low student-to-teacher ratio of 9:1. All instruction is in English, with mandatory Japanese study. The teaching staff is highly experienced, with a majority holding advanced degrees.
