Kunimoto Alberta International School (KAIS) is a unique international program within the historic Kunimoto Gakuen campus in Setagaya, Tokyo, designed specifically for girls in Grades 7–12 who want both a strong Japanese educational foundation and global academic opportunities. Established in 2020, the program combines the Alberta Program of Studies with the Japanese national curriculum, allowing students to graduate with a double diploma—the Alberta High School Diploma and a Japanese High School Diploma.

The school uses a “scaffolded English” learning model where students gradually transition from Japanese-based instruction in Grade 7 to English-taught core subjects such as mathematics, science, and social studies by Grade 9. With small class sizes, Alberta-certified teachers, and a supportive bilingual environment, KAIS focuses on developing strong academic skills, English proficiency, and critical thinking. This approach prepares students for both Japanese and international universities while maintaining a strong connection to Japanese culture and traditions.
