ISTimes Global: (00:00) We’re here with Miss Yamada from Capital Tokyo International School. Welcome.
CTIS: (00:04) Thank you.
ISTimes Global: (00:05) Uh, we were just chatting um a bit about your school. Your uh your school opened a couple of years ago, correct?
CTIS: (00:13) Yes.
ISTimes Global: (00:14) Uh, tell us uh tell us a bit about the school and what kind of culture and program you are bringing together.
CTIS: (00:22) Mhm. Um, uh now we have the elementary school section and also the middle school section and we are the the candidate school for the IB school. And we’re going to uh start our high school in 2026. And we also have the kindergarten in Shibuya. It’s a different different location. And we are um you know, we have the founder called uh Mr. Sato. He’s a kind of um entrepreneur and also investor. And he wanted to make a school that can um lead the students to the to the real world. Um to the they need to he thinks that children need to know more about the business and the world while they are in elementary school and also middle school and high school, then it will be easier for them to connect to the real world. So we connect the IB um curriculum and also steam and PBL classes to um make them experience uh the real world and the society.
ISTimes Global: (01:34) That’s uh very interesting. So how does that translate in the classroom trying to um maybe bring some business values. Uh you had mentioned uh uh steam, but um what are some other things that you do that kind of bring the founder’s ethos into the classroom.
CTIS: (01:53) Yeah, the the most important thing is we invite um the the professionals and also the entrepreneurs from different uh fields then um we ask them to speak about their business to the to the children, to the students directly and um there are many chances for the students to think about the world and you know, the society and they try to connect their studies and the the real things, you know.
ISTimes Global: (02:22) Do do um the kids have many opportunities to go outside of the campus as well?
CTIS: (02:28) Mhm. Yes, they they also visit companies and different places and investigate things.
ISTimes Global: (02:33) Oh, so and uh and what is the age group uh currently? Uh you said that you have the primary school and you started the junior high school.
CTIS: (02:42) Mhm. Yes, and we now have the the the kindergarten. It’s not real school, but we have K2 to K5 classes and also uh for the elementary, we have uh G1 to G5 students. And for the middle school, we we have um G6 to G7 students.
ISTimes Global: (03:01) And what year will be your first graduating class?
CTIS: (03:06) I think that will be our current G7 class. Yeah.
ISTimes Global: (03:11) Oh, exciting. Uh so what do you hope uh the school will be in three to four years uh from now?
CTIS: (03:19) Yeah, we are looking forward to the our high school. we start in 2026 and I think that’s the most important thing for the for the IB to have the DP the the diploma uh from the school and uh we’re looking forward to the the students to you know, go overseas and also maybe maybe they proceed to um Japanese universities. So, we have a lot of good students, so I’m looking forward to it.
ISTimes Global: (03:48) Excellent. Well, that sounds very exciting. Thank you so much.
CTIS: (03:51) Thank you very much.
ISTimes Global: (03:52) Thank you very much. That was Capital Tokyo International School. Check it out.
