School History

ISTimes Global: (00:00) Today, we would like to have an interview with CTIS, Capital Tokyo International School.

ISTimes Global: (00:06) So first, please tell us about your school’s background and history.

CTIS (Aarzoo): (00:10) Oh, thank you so much. Well, CTIS was founded in 2022 by Takahiro Sato, an angel investor and a father. After building businesses, he realized that traditional education hadn’t prepared him or many others for the real world. That realization deepened when his own child entered elementary school. Seeing that classrooms hadn’t changed much in decades, he felt a strong desire to create something better, a school that equips children with the skills, mindset, and confidence to thrive in a rapidly changing world. CTIS was born out of that vision, a future-ready international school where learning goes beyond textbooks and students grow into curious, capable, and globally minded individuals.

Academics at CTIS

ISTimes Global: (00:57) Next, please tell us about academics at your school. What is learning like at the school?

CTIS (Aarzoo): (01:03) Thank you. At CTIS, an IB school for both primary and middle years programs, learning is rooted in real-world inquiry-based exploration. Through project-based learning, students engage in STEAM, languages, arts, and design, connecting their students to both global and local issues. Classes take place in flexible, tech-rich environments with one-on-one devices and a bilingual English-Japanese library. CTIS nurtures curious, reflective, and multilingual learners who are ready to make a meaningful impact on the world.

A Day in the Life at CTIS

ISTimes Global: (01:42) Finally, what is a day in the life of the student like at your school?

CTIS (Aarzoo): (01:46) Well, at a typical day at CTIS International School begins at 8:15 a.m. with homeroom, uh followed by a mixed rich of academic subjects, Japanese, English, math, UI, STEAM, uh PE, and music in elementary school. In addition to sciences, individuals and societies, design, and others, other MYP subjects in the middle school, and two well-timed break times and a lunch break. Classes end by 2:30 p.m. for PYP and 3:20 for MYP with optional use of campus library until 3:30 p.m. After school, including programming, uh Minecraft, and Roblox runs from 3:00 p.m. The campus design supports flexible group-based learning in tech-enabled open spaces, a library stocked with both English and Japanese resources, and easy access to outdoor areas for physical and inquiry learning. We would like for you to visit if you would like, and we will be happy to see you here. Thank you. Bye.
