The Canadian International School Tokyo (CIS), founded in 1999, is a well-established international day school located in Shinagawa. The school offers a Canadian curriculum certified by the Prince Edward Island (PEI) Ministry of Education, combined with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) for younger students. This blend provides a structured, academically strong pathway from Kindergarten through Grade 12, leading to a Canadian high school diploma.

CIS serves approximately 330 students representing over 25 nationalities, creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment. English is the primary language of instruction, with Japanese taught across grade levels. The school maintains small class sizes (around 15–20 students), allowing for individualized attention and strong academic support.

The three-building urban campus includes science and technology labs, music and art studios, libraries, and indoor sports facilities. Students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, music clubs, and student leadership programs. With certified Canadian teachers and a focus on holistic development, CIS prepares students for university pathways in Canada, the United States, Japan, and other global destinations.
