Yokohama International School (YIS) is a long-established international school in Naka-ku, Yokohama, offering the full International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum from Early Learning through Grade 12. Payment Schedule
Tuition billed in two equal installments, due July 31 and December 8.
Tuition Notes
Comprehensive tuition includes school-issued devices, most expeditions and field trips, and IB/standardized exams (excluding resits).

Additional Fees
Bus service, uniforms, cafeteria, and some extracurricular activities billed separately; campus development fee ¥385,000 annually.

Admissions
Application Process
Online application through YIS Admissions Portal, payment of non-refundable application fee, submission of school reports and recommendations, and review by admissions committee. Younger children may attend a play session; older students may complete placement tasks.
Entry Requirements
Previous school reports, English-language readiness for grade level, compatibility with school mission and programs; learning support needs reviewed by support team.
Assessment Tests
Placement assessments and/or English language assessments may be required depending on grade and background.
Interview Process
Family and/or student interviews, often in person or online, to understand the student’s background, needs and fit.
Deadlines
Main intake August; priority deadlines published annually (e.g., February for applicants already in Japan) with rolling admission where space permits.
